Day 20 - In Vancouver, on Mainland BC

July 13 - My Birthday

For some time now, Bob and I have been following each other's blogs. Last year, he camped out at my house for a couple of days, and this year, he has returned the favour - I'm writing this from his place.

I arrived at about 2:30 and we chatted until it was time to go to the local casino / Buffet restaurant. Bob had his birthday last Wed and today is mine, so he invited some friends and family and off we went. All you can eat, and nice deserts too.

Afterwards we spent a half hour at the local Night Market, almost a side-show feel to it.

And that was that...

Thanks to John for riding with me to Duke Point to pick up a 2 hour ferry to Vancouver. Nice ferry, expensive breakfast, but hey, it's my birthday!

Some shots:

And, this is what you see from the ferry:

A bit of haze, but you get the idea...

That's it for today. Bob has taken a couple of days off, against my advice, but he insists, and we will tour the city a bit. Very warm. We will take it easy and stay as cool as we can.

Welcome to Vancouver. Wished it were a bit cooler as we don't have air con and even with the doors open all night it is still very warm inside. It seems you brought your Toronto heat. Just consider me your chauffer for the next couple of days

  3. Happy Birthday! Enjoy the warm weather and Vancouver as, I suspect, in a way only Bob can show you...

  4. Ed, Sorry I couldn't get my stuff together to meet up, my life has been very chaotic the last couple of months. I just finally got some time to actually do a decent ride yesterday and guess where? Port Renfrew! Hope you had a lovely stay on the island and have a good trip home! Ride safe!
