Day 25 - July 18: Rode the Crow's Nest Pass

Well, it'a a pretty tame pass, as twisties go. But, quite nice, if the weather cooperates. Today, it was very hazy, smoky really. There are lots of forest fires in BC and that might have contributed, but maybe its just the hot humid weather.

I did make some videos, in the early part of the day, on the run up to Fernie, BC. I put them all together and offer them to you:

You can see how smoky it was. I managed to miss the nice curve and then through the narrow tunnel bit. Oh well, can't do it all.

Once past the summit, the descent is quite mild and then suddenly, flat land ahead. And ahead. Straight road, flat, all the way to Lethbridge and then to Medicine Hat. And days more of that, likely, until past Winnipeg. I looked at the map and it looks like Regina is a reasonable goal for tomorrow.

Let me know if you like the video.

It looks like the highway is a bit broken up. It seems that that portion was uneventful. Regina seems to be to be a realistic goal for tomorrow.
Keep the rubber side down. It seems that No.3 is better route than the TCH due to less traffic. Regards, Don P

    1. Hey, I guess you have some breathing space after looking after all those students. Thanks for the comments.

3 is a great highway! I enjoyed it greatly. Traffic was light, but at least there was enough so if there was a problem, I would not be stranded without someone to help.

On the TC now, and am surprised at how light the traffic is. Most times, there is no one in front or behind. Yes, I get passed now and then, but trucks and motorhomes seem to be most common. Strange, this is July, holiday time, and I expected more traffic. But, I leave early in am, stop early, so maybe that is why traffic is so light.

  2. Pretty nice video especially with all the smoke. How was it riding through there?

    1. Easy riding. Smoke was visible, not smellable, and not really evident as I was riding.

  3. You're going to have flat land for a few days won't you?

A bummer about the smoke. It seems most of the west is on fire right now.

    1. Quite flat, some curves, gentle sweepers, making good time. No traffic to speak of...I expected much more at this time of year.

  4. Regina eh?,..aka Va...., well that's the vernacular. Top city in Canada for chlamidya (true) which is why the RCMP put their boot camp there,...prepares new troopers for detachment to Surrey, Tuktoyaktuk, Moncton...
